Lip Treatments

  • What are Lip fillers?

Lip fillers are made from Hyaluronic Acid (HA) which is a naturally occuring complex playsaccharide (sugar) found our body - Joints, Skin, Eyes.  As the structure is identical to that in our body and there is no animal product, the risk of allergies is minimal and allergy testing is therefore not required.

Hyaluronic acid naturally attracts water into the skin and gives it natural volume.  After the age of 30 years the natural level of hyaluronic acid in our ceels begins to fall.  The substance is not permanent and the effect may slowly fade over a period of 6-12 months.  Hyaluronic acid is absorbed by the body and enhances the skin's natural hyaluronic acid production.  As the beneficial effects of the hyaluronic acid filler treatment wear off, the skin can be retreated at a later stage.

  • Are lip fillers safe?

Ome of the many advantages of Hyalurionic Acid is that it is a naturally occuring sugar found in all living organisms, including human skin, which is composed of 60% hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers have an excellent safety record.  Hyaluronic acid treatments are non-permanent, biodegradable and biocompatible, which means that the risk of rejection by the body's defence mechanisms is very minimal and very rare.

If the treatment did need immedicate reversal for any reason, we have at our disposal an enzyme called Hyaluronidase which can be used to breakdown the hyaluronic acid filler in approximately 24hours.

  • How long will it last for?

Hyaluronic acid fillers are resorbed into the lips over a 4-6month period.  The beneficial effects of the filler may last on average 12 months but may in some peoplebenefit for up to 2years.

  • What brand of lip filler do you use?

We only use Hyalurionic Fillers made by reputable international pharmaceutical companies such Allergan or Galderma.
